Initiation of Root Primordia and Physiochemical Changes in Carnation Cuttings According to Low Temperature Treatment

Abstract
Initiation of root primordia and physiochemical changes according to low temperature pretreatment were analyzed in cuttings of carnation cv. Desio. Sucrose content markedly increased at 5¡É for 2wks, but starch and total carbohydrates decreased with low temperature pretreatment. Activity of auxin-like substances in stem tissue of carnation were increased when stem tissue was stored at 5¡É. New protein band of 45 kDa, between 45 kDa and 55 kDa were biosynthesized after stem tissue has been stored at 5¡É. Root primordia were initiated and differentiated from pericycle parenchyma cells after low temperature and plant growth regulator pretreatment.
